Relaxing … anywhere

by Christine Rondeau

If you ask yoga practitioners why they practice yoga, you’ll hear many reasons. It improves flexibility, strength, mobility, calms the mind and helps them to relax. When you ask non yoga practitioners what they know of yoga, you often hear the same thing, but relaxation seems to top their list. Relaxation, de-stressing, winding down and going inwards is always associated with yoga and perhaps the number one reason why people come to their mat.

I recently have a brief email exchange with one of our members, Judi Glick, and she mentioned that she can now relax much more easily thanks to yoga. Here’s what she had to say:

Now I can finally relax in the dentist chair or other medical tests, because of what I learn in Iyengar yoga. Thanks to all my teachers in particular, Patricia, Alisen, Louie and Lucy at the Yoga Space and Wendy Davis who inspired and guided me very early on.

About the Author

Christine completed her studies in 2019 under the guidance of Louie Ettling and Patricia Fernandes at the Yoga Space. She first discovered yoga in early 2000. Since then, she’s tried various forms of yoga but none captured her interest as much as Iyengar Yoga.

The discipline and knowledge is what keeps her coming to her mat every day.
