Andrea has always loved to move. As a young girl, she practiced gymnastics and was always cartwheeling. At the age of 19, she was involved in a serious car accident that broke her pelvis, dislocated her hip, and caused soft tissue damage and head trauma. Her long term joint prognosis was poor. She was told she would need several replacements starting at the age of 40. The accident left her with long term connective tissue pain and post traumatic stress. It has been Andrea’s life journey to recover, and the path has been a beautiful gift she could never have imagined.

She started yoga in 1998, after the birth of her first child. She has spent many years studying health and spirituality informally and using running as a stress reliever. She became interested in yoga philosophy after obtaining a white belt in NIA in 2006, and an “accidental” evening workshop with a yogi changed her path forever. She started studying yoga and eventually found the path of Iyengar Yoga with her long time teacher. She has been studying Yoga seriously, taking classes weekly and attending workshops with Senior teachers since 2008. In 2017, she completed a Bachelor of Health Sciences degree with a focus on human anatomy and physiology.

Iyengar Yoga has given her the tools and community to have a quieter, healthier, curiosity-filled life which includes the love of movement she has always enjoyed. The study of Yoga has and continues to enlighten her as she practices, with her teacher, and at workshops as often as possible. Her future goals include travelling to India for further study in the regular and medical class with the Iyengar family.

Over her 30 years of health practice, Andrea has developed a holistic approach to working with others. Expect an experience that is fun, energetic, passionate, challenging and supportive if you attend her Beginner/Level 1 classes in beautiful Gibsons BC.
