Hip Strength Workshop with Luci Yamamoto
May 9, 2026
If you’re into Iyengar yoga, you’re probably “obsessed” with one body part or another. Among my current obsessions are hips, which are indispensable for functional movement. Whether you’re aiming for athletic performance or just lifelong ambulation, you need hips both supple and sturdy.
In this workshop, we’ll focus on standing poses in neutral orientation, meaning poses involving lunges and squats (think Utkatasana and Virabhadrasana I and III). There’s nothing like standing on your own two feet—literally—to “feel” your glutesand hamstrings, quads and calves. After active practice, we’ll quiet the mind and body with restorative poses.
2-4pm, May 9, 2026, $36
This workshop is part of my “Monthly Iyengar Yoga Tune-Up” series at Kitsilano Community Centre. Participants should have approximately one year of yoga experience and no major injuries. Props are available but, if possible, please bring your own mat, strap, blanket(s), and any particular items that you might need.
