Shoulder Rx Workshop with Luci Yamamoto

Chances are, you’ve had shoulder pain before. The shoulder is common site for sports and overuse injuries. If unaddressed, pain and stiffness can become chronic.

In this workshop, we’ll do a variety of poses to address tight or weak shoulder muscles. (Tight muscles are often weak.) Expect to work on all ranges of motion, including extension and flexion, abduction and adduction, internal and external rotation. Yoga poses explore these actions in unique combinations, so you go beyond standard exercises to build strength and flexibility. We’ll end the class with restorative poses.

To release soft-tissue tension, we’ll use massage balls. Please bring a tennis, lacrosse, or dedicated massage ball.

This workshop is part of my “Monthly Iyengar Yoga Tune-Up” series at Kitsilano Community Centre. Participants should have approximately one year of yoga experience and no major injuries. Props are available but, if possible, please bring your own mat, strap, blanket(s), and any particular items that you might need.
