Hip Opening Workshop with Luci Yamamoto

Sep 28, 2024

Is your lifestyle mostly active or mostly sedentary? Interestingly, both can cause tight hip flexors. In walking and running, you might be overdoing it with your hip flexors, especially if your abs and glutes are slack and lazy. In sitting at your computer, you hold those hip flexors in prolonged, passive tension. To reset them back to normal function, yoga poses can help.

In this workshop, we’ll release tight hip flexors not only by stretching, but also by activating abdominal and gluteus muscles. By harnessing these muscles, you can maintain healthy hip flexors more naturally and habitually. From lunges and Warrior I, we’ll explore Bhekasana, Setu Bandha Sarvangasana, and other relevant poses. Since tight muscles can simultaneously be weak, we’ll alternate stretching with targeted flexion to strengthen the iliopsoas.

2-4pm, September 28, 2024, $36
