Shoulder Maintenance Workshop with Luci Yamamoto

Oct 4, 2025

I injured my right rotator cuff many years ago. With physiotherapy, strength training, and yoga, I rehabbed my shoulder to virtually full function. But if I stop doing “maintenance” work on my shoulder, I can see (and feel) the regression.

Even if uninjured, the shoulder is all-important to daily life and susceptible to overuse. Fortunately, it responds well to appropriate movement, including yoga poses. If you’ve been neglecting your shoulders, let’s work together to maintain them.

In this workshop, we’ll do poses to address shoulder muscles that are tight or weak—or both. Expect to work on all ranges of motion, including extension and flexion, abduction and adduction, internal and external rotation. To release muscular tension, we’ll use massage balls. Please bring a tennis, lacrosse, or dedicated massage ball.

2-4pm, October 4, 2025, $36

This workshop is part of my “Monthly Iyengar Yoga Tune-Up” series at Kitsilano Community Centre. Participants should have approximately one year of yoga experience and no major injuries. Props are available but, if possible, please bring your own mat, strap, blanket(s), and any particular items that you might need.

Register with Kitsilano Community Centre.
