Back Care Workshop with Luci Yamamoto
May 31, 2025
In our undergrad years, my sister and I occasionally enjoyed a “mall day” together. (We’d shop all day at a mega mall in LA or OC.) Afterward, we’d sometimes feel achy in the low back. Standing for hours, our muscles must have fatigued, slackening our posture.
Back pain is often caused by bad habits in everyday life. At first, the pain is temporary but, if those habits aren’t corrected, your spine—vertebrae, disks, nerves—can sustain damage and cause chronic pain.
In this workshop, we’ll first consider our pelvic tilt, spinal mobility, and overall alignment. We’ll then do strengthening poses to prevent pain—and releasing poses to ease pain. We’ll end with passive, restorative poses to relieve stress, an aggravating factor. Learn how to prevent and ease back pain so you can stand (and shop) all day pain free!
2-4pm, May 31, 2025, $36
