The Squat Workshop with Luci Yamamoto
Mar 15, 2025
Arguably the best fitness exercise is the squat. At the gym, the barbell squat is an essential free-weight move. But squatting just your body weight is also effective—and highly recommended for everyone, including seniors. Can you pop up from that low, squishy sofa, hands free?
In yoga, poses such as Utkatasana and Malasana are clearly related to the squat. But developing your squat will enhance all standing poses—not to mention your functional movement in general!
In this workshop, we’ll explore the muscles needed to squat effectively: glutes, hamstrings, quads, calves, lower back, and abdominal core. By training these muscles, you’ll more clearly understand squat-type poses—and you’ll build power and joint stability. After a strengthening practice, we’ll end with restorative poses.
2-4pm, March 15, 2025, $36
