Aadil Palkhivala in Vancouver in 1983!

Digging through old boxes from our archives, I recently came across a photo album containing delightful photos of a demonstration carried out in Vancouver, Sunday June 12th 1983 at the Scottish Auditorium. The demonstration closed off a weekend-long workshop with Aadil Palkhivala. The name Aadil wasn’t familiar to me but his photos blew me away, so I had to look him up. Aadil started studying with Mr. Iyengar when he was 7 and became a certified instructor at the age of 22. He also had the opportunity to work as Mr. Iyengar’s assistant in Pune for many years. In these photos, Aadil is the one sitting and his brother, Jehangir is the one doing the asanas. This workshop was organized by Susan Bull who had the opportunity to study with Aadil.
I took the liberty to scan these and am posting a few here so that everyone can enjoy them. If anyone reading this knows who took the photos, please get in touch.

Christine completed her studies in 2019 under the guidance of Louie Ettling and Patricia Fernandes at the Yoga Space. She first discovered yoga in early 2000. Since then, she’s tried various forms of yoga but none captured her interest as much as Iyengar Yoga.
The discipline and knowledge is what keeps her coming to her mat every day.
