Eve Johnson discovered Iyengar yoga in 1987, when she first attended classes with Wende Davis. Over the next thirteen years, she became a dedicated student, and in 2000, began teacher training as an apprentice with Gioia Irwin and later, Claudia MacDonald. In 2003, she founded Yoga on 7th with Mary Balomenos and continues to teach full time at the studio. Eve is a compassionate and joyful teacher who believes that yoga grows best from a practice of unlimited friendliness to ourselves, our bodies, and eventually our entire world. Eve began teaching yoga after a 25-year career in print and radio journalism. In the late 1980s, she began writing about food for the Vancouver Sun, and as food editor wrote two cookbooks, Five-Star Food and Six O’Clock Solutions. Eating My Words, her collection of essays exploring the spiritual and cultural meaning of food, was published by Whitecap in 2003. Eve served for several years on the B.K.S. Association board, including three years as chair.
